Bridges to allow animals to cross the roads safely

When we drive near forests and wildlife areas, it can happen to hit an animal. They have no other choice, generally, than to cross the roads and risk their lives to join their family. Beyond all these lives killed by accident, it is also a serious danger for motorists. It is also estimated that the total cost of accidents occurring when hitting an animal is $ 8 billion a year.

In 1950, France built the first bridge "wild" to allow animals to cross the roads safely. The concept has developed around the world, especially in the Netherlands where more than 66 bridges have been created on this model. In the United States and Canada, these bridges have become a real trend for more than 30 years. A very nice initiative that shows how innovation and evolution can also come to the service of animals, not just humans.
